OPI Hawaii: Is Mai Tai Crooked?

OPI's "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" is another of my favourite nail polish colours that I'm currently loving wearing. It's a gorgeous rockmelon/peach shade of orange from OPI's Hawaii collection.

Although I think it was intended as a summer colour it is also perfect for wearing in autumn, reminding me of the colour of autumn leaves. It nicely matches a number of trans-seasonal items in my wardrobe including my Three Parsons Floral Drape Cape Jacket, as seen in the background of all these photos.

"Is Mai Tai Crooked?" is a creamy formula which becomes completely opaque on my nails with its second coat. On the photos below I am wearing an OPI base coat, two coats of "Is Mai Tai Crooked?" and an OPI top coat.

Like the other OPI Hawaii collection nail polishes I've worn this one lasts well on my nails for 5 days, with small chips appearing on the 6th day. This is a great result for me as I do use my hands a lot at home and at work.

Being forever the bargain hunter, let me pass on the cheapest place I've found to buy OPI's Is Mai Tai Crooked? It's at Ry Australia, click HERE to shop.

What is your current favourite nail polish shade?
Do you wear different nail polish colours in different seasons?

  1. Love that colour on you. Not sure I have a favourite colour. I prefer something neutral now that my nails are on the short side.

    1. Thanks Raychael! I used to not wear nail polish because I was conscious that my nails were always short but now I just accept my nails for what they are and enjoy wearing any colour that I like! OPI's colour range is so comprehensive!

  2. That is my kind of colour. I think that a matt version of this colour would be great for Autumn!

    1. A matte version is a great idea! You could use a matte top coat to mattify this polish.

  3. Gorgeous colour! Season doesn't really impact my nail polish choice. I love brights, and am happy to wear them any time of the year :)

  4. I haven't worn nailpolish for years but I am a metallic and neutrals fan when I do, I should probably step outside my comfort zone and try something different like this one day!

  7. I steer clear of anything with orange tones but they look great on not-so-pale people. This week I put on a shade of teal for a change and it looked great! #teamIBOT

    1. As long as I use a base and top coat my OPI manis normally last 5 days.

  11. Did not think about nail polish being season - winter does see my toes nail polish free for a bit, more for the health of the nails than anything else!

    1. I usually skip the toe nail polish in winter also.

  12. Love that colour. It would add a certain something to a black or monochrome outfit, or even some greys. At the moment, I'm wearing a greeny blue. I'd like to get a nice purple for winter :)

  18. That really is a great autumn colour, but I guess that means you have only one more day to wear it, lol. I tend towards purplish pinks, but always have great plans to lash out on a broader spectrum.

  25. Hi Ingrid! Couldn't agree more about these coral shades- my first day of Autumn mani was an über bright pumpkin orange from the Essence range :)
I actually own zero OPI polishes :( I love the colours but I just can't justify spending $20 on a polish. I've seen their mini packs before, but again, I just cant bring myself to make the purchase. Anyhow, my cheapness aside, this is a gorgeous colour and a lovely mani- I'll continue to admire everyone's OPI manis from a distance! Maybe one day I'll take the plunge! :)

  29. I love to do all sorts of crazy designs on my nails. I'm currently rocking bright yellow with a diagonal grey area with white polka dots. I love the names on the OPI polishes, but I was surprised to see that the Color Club polished seem to have more staying power. I can sometimes get three solid weeks on a manicure with Color Club, which surprised me because it's a cheaper polish. I guess it's like the old cheap panty hose that would last forever.
