Double Cleansing and RosehipPLUS GIVEAWAY

Spring is a time of renewal and every Spring I suddenly have the urge to start cleaning our house, doing a full-on thorough clean of all the cupboards, drawers, wardrobes and curtains. Don't laugh at me, but afterwards I feel so satisfied, clean and happy, like a weight has lifted from my shoulders!

In addition to this thorough spring clean of the house I also get the urge to spring clean both my beauty supplies and also my makeup and skincare routines.

This Spring after reading about double face cleansing I've started incorporating this into my own beauty routine.

Normally just cleansing my face once is a chore. It's something I know I have to do but it's also something I usually spend as little time on as possible. But somehow now that it's Spring and I understand the benefits of double cleansing better and I've seen the positive results cleansing no longer seems such a chore!

So Why Double Cleanse?
Whether you've been wearing makeup or not, double cleansing is important to first remove dirt and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and then to actually clean the skin itself.

Double cleansing is a process that Japanese and Korean women have been using for centuries, and their skin always looks amazing!

What Products Do I Use?
Double cleansing is more than just using your regular cleanser twice. To really reap the benefits of double cleansing it is important to use an oil based formula before your regular face wash.

I use RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil, which is 100% pure, Australian certified organic, cold pressed and rich in naturally occurring anti-ageing vitamins A and C, bioflavonoids and essential fatty acids.

I have previously reviewed RosehipPLUS rosehip oil HERE.

I then follow this up with RosehipPLUS Organic Daily Cream Cleanser.

RosehipPLUS Rosehip Oil &
RosehipPLUS Organic Daily Cream Cleanser

Double Cleansing Results
After double cleansing my skin feels softer, cleaner and more hydrated. It also looks brighter and thus more youthful. Yay! I love these benefits!

If you want to try double cleansing with RosehipPLUS products for yourself then you're in luck!

RosehipPLUS have generously given me four sets of these products to giveaway to readers of Fabulous and Fun Life to try this process for themselves.

Fabulous New Season Fashion Trend: Spots!

Are you Team Stripes or Team Spots?

I used to be firmly entrenched in Team Stripes loving all variety of stripey dresses, tops and skirts and I do still love my stripes BUT lately I have also found a new love - spots!

And why not! Spots are so cute and wearable. Anyone can wear spots at any age, ranging from babies to teens to women in their 40's like me, and beyond!

Lucky for me I'm seeing spots everywhere this season! I've seen spots of every description ranging from small confetti spots, to polka dots, to symmetrical metallic spots to large irregular splotches.

These spots have been on shirts, dresses, skirts, undies, scarves, homewares, stationery, bedding - you name it and the chances are you can get it in spots!

My current favourite spotty top is this Foil Spot tee from Kennedys Boutique.

Foil Metallic Spot Tee from Kennedys Boutique

It is such an easy to wear soft grey cotton with metallic silver spots! Yes, metallic silver spots! As you probably already know metallics, especially silver and rose gold, are another of my current favourite fashion trends!

This tee is the perfect length and shape. It skims the figure flatteringly rather than being skin tight like some other tees tend to be.

Dr Roebuck's EYE

Bright, youthful and glowing skin is on everyone's wishlist when it comes to our eye area, me included!

I have never found a holy grail eye cream yet, so I was more than happy to trial the Dr Roebuck's EYE to see if this cream would finally be my elusive holy grail miracle eye cream!

I've now been using the newly launched Dr Roebuck's EYE for over a month and am comfortable reviewing this cream for you. I don't think you can accurately review an eye cream in any shorter a duration.

Dr Roebuck's EYE

Dr Roebuck's
Dr Roebuck's is an Australian owned and made, all natural skincare brand, created from a treasured family secret.

The brand was originally started over 30 years ago by Dr Roebuck to treat the eczema of his newborn twin girls. These twin girls have now grown up and are running the company!

Every Dr Roebuck's product is tested under the strictest physician supervision.

All Dr Roebuck's products are free from parabens, sulphates, BPA, synthetic fragrances and colours.

Every ingredient used in Dr Roebuck's products is there for a reason. Dr Roebuck's has a minimal ingredients, maximum results philosophy.

Their ingredients are responsibly sourced, their products are ethically created and never tested on animals.

Yes, this brand is definitely ticking all the right boxes for me!

Dr Roebuck's EYE
Dr Roebuck's EYE launched in July 2016 and is available to purchase from the iconic Australian retailer, David Jones for $39.95.

It's accompanying blurb states that it is "designed to prevent premature ageing and vitalise damaged skin by harnessing the rejuvenating benefits of seven naturally potent actives."

Dr Roebuck's EYE

These seven natural potent actives and their roles in Dr Roebuck's EYE are:
  • Coconut Oil - deeply moisturises & hydrates to prevent premature ageing & the formation of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Caffeine - reduces dark circles & bags
  • Rosehip Seed Oil - regenerates skin to diminish wrinkles, whilst soothing & softening
  • Arnica Montana Flower - aids specifically in reducing dark rings
  • Vitamin E Oil - a powerful antioxidant that repairs damaged skin
  • Lecithin - naturally moisturises whilst allowing each active ingredient to penetrate the dermis
  • Sodium PCA - a highly effective natural amino acid that retains moisture in the skin to enhance overall skin elasticity.
Dr Roebuck's EYE comes packaged in a striking, good quality red plastic jar with silver printing. The logo design conveys its origins as a scientifically created treatment product with physician input.

I found the product to be a thick white cream with tiny black particles in it which you can just see in the photo above.

When applied however there is no grittiness to the cream and it goes on smoothly.

My skin feels richly moisturised and beautifully soft and smooth after use.

After a month of regular use, twice daily,  the delicate skin around my eye does appear somewhat plumper and thus more youthful! Yay! However I can't really see a significant reduction in the dark rings or bags under my eye, but being realistic, I am in my late 40's and I don't think any cream in existence would be able to eliminate these for me now at my age!

I strongly encourage all beauty lovers, especially younger beauty lovers, to start using eye cream a lot earlier than I did to prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles for as long as possible! I think everyone should be using an eye cream regularly from the age of 20 onwards.

In conclusion, although I wouldn't call Dr Roebuck's EYE my holy grail of eye creams, I do love how intensely moisturising it is and how soft and smooth it leaves the delicate skin around my eyes.

I'm still to find that elusive holy grail eye cream and quite frankly I'm wondering if it even exists!

I suspect the older I get, the more fine lines and wrinkles I develop and the more puffy eyed I become, the more impossible it will be for me to find a holy grail eye cream - lol!

In reality I'm probably searching for a miracle!

Having said that, Dr Roebuck's EYE certainly ticks a lot of the right boxes for me and I would happily repurchase this product to achieve the ongoing rich moisturisation of my eye area it achieved for me.

For younger beauty lovers this eye cream could quite possible be your holy grail eye cream!

At what age did you start regularly using an eye cream?

New Rimmel Highlighter Products - Good To Glow Highlighter & Brow This Way Highlighter Pencil

Spring has finally arrived! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and gorgeous flowers are starting to bloom! Yay!

The other change that Spring brings is my desire to change up my makeup, lighten it up and use products that will give me that youthful radiant and healthy glow!

Lucky for me Rimmel London has now launched two new and brilliant highlighting products, the Good To Glow Highlighter and the Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil.

Good To Glow Highlighter

Rimmel London's Good To Glow Highlighter is a liquid illuminator and highlighter that offers an instant buildable glow.

The formula contains light reflecting pigments that create a natural radiant and luminous look. It's perfect for achieving the radiant youthful dewy complexion I'm wanting.

There are two shades currently available in Australia:

          1. Notting Hill Glow - a shimmering pearl shade, and
          2. Soho Glow - a darker bronze shade.

I have the Soho Glow shade.

I found the creamy formula of this highlighter to be lovely and lightweight and although it looks very pigmented at first, it blends beautifully into a subtle shade, adding a gorgeous natural looking radiant glow.

This highlighter contains a visible yet subtle shimmer. I like mixing this highlighter in with my foundation to give me an all over natural dewy complexion.

You can also wear it on top of your base to highlight the high points of your face, namely your cheek bones, the bridge of your nose, the top of your forehead and your cupid's bow.

In addition you can add a few drops of this highlighter to your body cream to add a subtle glow to your decolletage, clavicle (collar bone) or even your shoulders when wearing this season's fashion trend of cold shoulder and off the shoulder tops.

Rimmel London's Good To Glow Highlighter has a Recommended Retail Price of $12.95. Click HERE to buy it from Priceline Online.

Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil

Rimmel London's Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil is a highlighter pencil that can be used to accentuate the brow bone, and lift and illuminate the eye area.

There are two shades currently available in Australia:
          1. Gold Shimmer (002) - perfect for a glam look, and
          2. Pink Matte (001) - perfect for everyday.

I have the Gold Shimmer shade.

I found this jumbo highlighting pencil quick and easy to use and I love the effect it has in lifting and brightening my brow arch and eye area.

It has a soft formula which allows for a smooth application and makes it easy to blend.

I use it to highlight my brow bone for added eye impact. I also like to use it as an inner corner eye highlighter. You could also use it on your eyelids if you want to add some highlighting shade to them as well.

Rimmel London's Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil has a Recommended Retail Price of $9.95. Click HERE to buy it from Priceline.

I have previously reviewed the Rimmel London Kate Moss Sculpting Palette which includes a lovely light champagne shimmer highlighter powder and #Insta Flawless, a tinted primer which provides a natural 'my skin but better' glow. Click HERE to read these additional reviews.
