Rimmel London The Only One Matte Lipstick Collection - Review & Swatches

You might remember that Rimmel London released The Only One lipstick range, which had a creamy, shiny finish, about this same time last year. You can read my review of the original range HERE

Well, the Rimmel London lipstick revolution continues!

Rimmel London have now introduced a new lipstick into their arsenal, The Only One Matte Lipstick!

I'm so excited about this velvety matte finish range of lipsticks. I think they suit my 40+ year old lips so much better than glosses.

Rimmel London The Only One Matte Lipstick Collection

There are nine stunning shades in this new collection. I've photographed the lipsticks in the same order in each photo. Left to right in all the photos the shades are:
  • 110 Leader Of The Pink
  • 120 Call The Shots
  • 200 Salute
  • 500 Take The Stage
  • 610 High Flyer
  • 700 Trendsetter
  • 750 Look Who's Talking
  • 800 Run the Show
  • 810 The Matte Factor

Rimmel London The Only 1 Matte Lipstick Collection

Surprisingly I found these matte lipsticks to be completely non-drying and comfortable to wear. In fact they actually felt moisturising and creamy on my lips! This is totally unlike other matte lipsticks I have tried in the past.

The finish of these lipsticks is a stylish velvety matte.

I found them to glide on smoothly with no dragging. They are also long lasting.

Like the original The Only One range these lipsticks have kept their divine fruity scent which I love although this does dissipate after application.

Overall these lipsticks are a real winner for me! They have it ALL! There is no compromise!

The shades are stunning! Just look at my swatches of them below!

I've even ventured out of my normal comfort zone and worn the purple Run The Show shade to my conservative workplace of all places! My favourite shade however is Shade 120: Call The Shots!

Comment below what your favourite shade is! I'd love to know!

  1. Such a great range of colours.
I am a gloss girl through and through. Maybe it's because I am so pale. Matt products can make me look bland. Love that you feel confident to try new colours.

  13. Love the colours. I don't wear other makeup so usually wear lipstick. And I like bright lipsticks. I've got very old and faithful reds and dark pinks.... but recently I've seen a few pics of people in bright red / pink lips and it's occurred to me it's ageing on people my age. Or perhaps it's their colouring. I'm wondering if I should stick to lighter colours! #teamlovinlife

    1. I think you can wear what ever shade of lipstick you love at any age! Although you're right skin colouring, the rest of your makeup and your outfit can all influence what looks best on you.

  14. What a fantastic range of colours. I'd go for Leader of the Pink. Love pinks and soft rose coloured lipsticks, but not something too hard and bright as I get older.

  22. Oh these look like lovely colours! It's good to hear that they are nice non-drying matte lipsticks. I worry most mattes would be too dry. THe purple one actually looks really wearable, and quite fun! :)

Hope you have a great weekend :)
